CCEA SCHOLARSHIP
COMMITTEE POLICIES
1.
The CARROLL COUNTY EDUCATION ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP
(herein referred to as the CCEA Scholarship) will be
awarded to children or grandchildren of current,
retired, or deceased CCEA members regardless of the
recipient's educational goals or place residence.
2.
The FUTURE TEACHERS SCHOLARSHIP will be awarded to a
student intending to major in education.
3.
The applicants must be graduating in the current
year's graduating class.
4.
Scholarships awarded shall not be less than two
hundred fifty dollars ($250) and shall be payable
directly to the institution which must be a college,
university, junior college, school of nursing, or
trade school.
5.
The Scholarship Committee will consist of a maximum
of five (5) members to be chosen by the Chairperson
and or his/her designee.
6.
The Scholarship Committee shall obtain approval by
the Executive Board of any and all plans to raise
funds for scholarships.
7.
Appropriate certificates shall accompany the
scholarship when awarded. When possible, awards
shall be given at the student's Farewell or Awards
Assembly. The award shall be presented by the
President of CCEA or his/her designee.
8.
Scholarship applications with cover letter shall be
available on or by January 15 or the closest working
day.
9.
Scholarships will be advertised in the CCEA
newsletter.
10.
Three copies of the applications of each senior high
school in Carroll County will be sent to the
guidance supervisor to be distributed to the high
schools. Additional copies will be available through
the CCEA office.
11.
Deadline for applications and reports from teachers
or counselors shall be returned by the first working
day in April.
12.
Judging and selection of the scholarship recipient
will be done by the CCEA Scholarship Committee.
13.
No member of the Scholarship Selection Committee may
be the parent, step-parent, grandparent, brother,
sister, aunt, uncle, or guardian of an applicant.
14.
Selection will be based on the following:
a. Scholastic aptitude
b. Grade point average
c. Recommendations of counselors or teachers
d. Over-all personal development
e. Community service
15.
Applications will become the property of the
Association.
